Santorini Hostel Caveland

We are travelers ourselves. We think that touring the Globe is fun and broadens your horizons. On our journeys we also stay in hostels, hang out with like-minded travelers and try to experience as much as possible for the lowest price. Our concept is simple: we have tried to bring what we have experienced and liked in our travels to one spot, our Caveland. Our hostel is located in an old 18th century winery at the heart of the most photogenic island in Greece, Santorini. Caveland is a complex of cave houses and terraces with amazing views and small gardens with lemon, pomegranate, orange, pear, vanilla and pistachio trees. You can choose from a wide range of accommodation options – we have dormitory style bunk beds, single beds and private double rooms. The decor is largely home-spun, in refurbishing the walls we have used many types of local techniques and the rooms are furnished with refurbished antique and local furniture. The caves themselves represent the most typical traditional Santorinian architecture. Locals simply used to dig their houses -the caves (grotto)- into 3600 year old volcanic pumice. Pumice is the upper layer of Santorini island. This layer is about 20 meters deep, it has bright color and covers around 90% of the island and was created through various volcanic eruptions over time
